About Shannon
Shannon Briggs is a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia. She is registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC) and is an active member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). Shannon is also listed on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP).
In addition to her clinical work, Shannon is a Clinical Educator, mentoring new SLPs, SLPs to be, and supervising practicum students, helping them develop their clinical skills and grow into confident, compassionate professionals. She is passionate about providing support and guidance to the next generation of SLPs, sharing her knowledge and expertise to ensure the highest standard of care in the field.
Shannon specializes in pediatric speech and language developing, and social communication skills, providing comprehensive assessments for children with speech delays, language impairments, and social communication challenges. She has extensive experience working with autistic clients of all ages (toddlers to teens) and is dedicated to developing individualized goal plans that promote functional communication and language skills. Additionally, Shannon frequently collaborates in a team-based approach to autism assessments, ensuring a holistic and well-rounded evaluation process.

A behavioral treatment for children under 6 who stutter.

A motor speech disorder intervention for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).

A course focused on identify, evaluate, and work with any child who communicates with delayed echolalia (scripting) and learning more about Gestalt Language Processors (GLP).
Shannon is also a passionate advocate for emotional literacy and its critical role in child development.
She creates resources and shares insights on how emotional literacy enhances communication, social skills, and overall well-being. This passion for emotional development extends into her work as a host of a monthly SLP-themed book club on her podcast, where she discusses literature relevant to the field. She also runs a weekly podcast, where she covers a wide range of topics related to speech-language pathology, child development, and practical strategies for SLPs and aspiring SLPs.
In her clinical practice, Shannon is a neurodiversity affirming therapist who uses a play-based, child-led approach, ensuring that therapy is engaging, meaningful, and tailored to each child's unique needs. She works closely with families, teachers, and interdisciplinary teams to support children in achieving functional communication goals. Her goal is always to empower families and help children develop skills that are meaningful in their everyday lives.
